Kiera

General Manager

Kiera is Canine Comprehension’s General Manager. She strongly believes every young person has the right to feel safe, seen, and fully supported as they grow in confidence and embrace their own wonderful, unique identity. Her leadership approach is grounded in service: removing barriers, building skilled, connected teams, and creating an inclusive environment where people feel encouraged, supported, and resourced to do their best work.

Kiera brings more than 20 years of executive and senior leadership experience across health and social services, the community sector and business. Her expertise spans strategy, People & Culture, organisational development, change management and building healthy, high-performing teams. She holds a Master’s in Organisational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Sociology and Anthropology, bringing a strong understanding of people, organisations and the systems that shape them.

As General Manager and a member of Canine Comprehension’s Navigation Crew (executive team), Kiera oversees all aspects of the organisation, helping turn its purpose into practical action for children and young adults. Her role is to connect the dots, clear the path, and support Canine Comprehension’s people and partners to succeed.

Kiera is proud to be part of an organisation that combines compassionate care with the extraordinary connection dogs can create. She values Canine Comprehension’s commitment to authentic relationships, investment in its people, and ability to bring joy to meaningful work.
Kiera also comes with a fabulous canine crew: Chifley, a very old and, by her own admission, rather smelly Golden Retriever; Watson, a Chocolate Labrador; and Bowie, a Labrador–Weimaraner cross. They bring plenty of energy to her life and remind her daily of the power of connection.

Meet my therapy dogs

Levi

At just 14 months old, Levi is already proving himself to be a special therapy dog in the making. A purebred Border Collie, Levi carries the quiet sensitivity of his nature while still showing off the lively spark of a playful puppy. With his boundless love for games—especially anything that involves a ball—he brings joy and laughter wherever he goes.

Though a little timid when first meeting new friends, Levi quickly warms up, and once he feels comfortable, his warm and trusting nature shines through and he quickly becomes a devoted companion. His eagerness to please shines through in everything he does, always trying his very best and looking to do the right thing.

Levi has been a well-loved member of Alison’s family since he was just eight weeks old. Growing up alongside them, he has already become an inseparable part of their lives, delighting in cuddles and the simple comfort of being close. With his combination of softness, playfulness, and a big heart, Levi is already showing the qualities that will make him a truly remarkable therapy dog as he continues to grow and learn.
