Emily
Mentor
Originally from the UK, Emily moved to Australia nearly 20 years ago and has called Melbourne home ever since. Coming from a family of teachers, she followed in their footsteps when her own children were young, completing a Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University of Melbourne. Emily is passionate about working with children. She loves building meaningful relationships and discovering the unique connections that help unlock each child’s learning potential. Those “aha” moments, when a concept finally clicks, are among her most rewarding experiences.
As a mum to two neurodiverse teenage girls, Emily has a deep understanding of individual diNerences. She is skilled at adapting both learning activities and environments to meet diverse needs. Her warm, gentle nature helps children feel safe, supported, and eager to engage. The only thing that felt missing from her work with children was the presence of her beloved dogs, Peaches and Bodhi. While training them, Emily developed a strong interest in understanding canine behaviour and communication.
Joining Canine Comprehension has allowed Emily to bring together her two passions, supporting children’s learning and working with her dogs. Being able to share Peaches and Bodhi with the children she works with is, for her, the ultimate joy.

Meet Peaches, a gentle and a/ectionate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a love for cuddles and companionship.
Peaches has a naturally calm and sweet nature, and she thrives on being close to her people. Whether she’s curled up for a nap, quietly by your side, or soaking up attention, she brings a sense of warmth and comfort wherever she goes. With her beautifully soft coat, she is especially irresistible to pat and cuddle—something she is always more than happy to encourage.
At home, Peaches lives with her brother Bodhi, another Cavalier, two children, and two cats, and is very much part of the family. She is relaxed, adaptable, and takes the rhythms of a busy household in her stride. Peaches has a playful and curious streak and is always keen to learn, especially when treats are involved. She loves getting out for walks, hopping in the car, and exploring somewhere new—though she’s just as happy to return home for a well-earned rest.
With her gentle personality, loving nature, and talent for making people feel at ease, Peaches is a much-loved companion who brings a quiet kind of joy wherever she goes.
